The Cartographer
You go for the places that should not exist.
Strange geology, mirrors of salt, needles of limestone, pillars in the mist. You want the ground itself to be the story, and you plan the way you read: with maps open and the season circled.
The Cartographer travels for landscapes that look like a mistake and plans them like a research project. You read the climate table before the reviews, you know which month the salt floods and which month the mist lifts, and you would rather see one impossible place properly than five famous ones badly. Your trips are precise and your photographs have no people in them.

- Patience with logistics that put others off
- An eye for the frame that shows the scale
Watch for
- Over-planning until the trip has no room for the unexpected
- Ignoring altitude because the map is flat
- Going alone to places where the road is the risk
Kit
- A paper map and the offline one
- Category-four sunglasses and gloves for sharp rock
- A tripod that survives a 4x4 floor
